تؤكد أثر القراءة السريعة في زيادة الإستيعاب

أحببت أن أورد هذه الدراسة بعد طلبات متكررة من مجموعة من الأحبة حول دراسات علمية عن القراءة السريعة.

خلاصة الدراسة

This study examined the correlation proposed by research between the reading rate and a number of variables such as the mechanics of eye movements (duration and number of fixations, length of saccades, frequency of regressions), subvocalization, cognitive speed, comprehension, word recognition speed and reading flexibility, with special focus on critical analysis of prior research. It also investigated the reports of the effectiveness of speed reading training. Speed reading has occasioned high controversy since its first inclusion in the literature at the beginning of this century with E. B. Huey (1908), who considered reading rate to be "of the greatest importance practically and pedagogically." Since then, a wide range of correlations (from high positive to high negative) was found in research literature between reading rate and the aforementioned variables. The present study investigated, summarized and analyzed the educationally significant research of the twentieth century so as to (a) identify the strength and weakness of each study; and (b) determine the contribution of each individual study to the overall research of speed reading. In order to examine the possible effectiveness of one type of speed reading training, the study also informally explored data from a group of 32 students, who had just completed a specific speed reading course. The compiled rate and comprehension pre-test scores were compared with those of the posttest Additional data were collected from the same subjects through a survey questionnaire to record comments on the major issues raised in the literature concerning speed reading. Interviewing five new individuals, who had exceptionally high reading rates, provided further data on the above ****s. The researcher concluded that speed reading training has the potential of substantially increasing reading rates with overall improved comprehension. Recommendations were made for introducing speed reading training courses in elementary and middle schools for students to achieve higher reading rates and better comprehension skills. Attaining astronomical rates claimed by commercialized speed reading courses was found to be unrealistic; however, the study offered sufficient evidence to substantiate the point of view that doubling or tripling one's rate through training is possible, especially when initial rates are low.

قامت الدراسة باختبار العلاقة الافترضة بين سرعة القراءة و مجموعة من المتغيرات منها :
1- ميكانيكية حركة العين (فترة و عدد مرات تثبيت العين و طول قفزات العين و عدد مرات التراجع).

2- النطق الصامت أثناء القراءة

3- الاستيعاب

4- سرعة تمييز الكلمة

5- سهولة القراءة و مرونتها

كما قامت الأطروحة بدراسة مدى فعالية التدريب على القراءة السريعة.
كانت القراءة السريعة باستمرار محل خلاف منذ ظهورها في أدبيات في بداية القرن على يد Hury.

و الذي اعتبر نسبة القراءة "الأهم عمليا و تربويا" , منذ ذلك الحين نشأت خلافات كثيرة و جدل حول هذا الموضوع امتد بين مؤيد و معارض لهذه العلاقة بين سرعة القراءة و المتغيرات سالفة الذكر.

هذه الدراسة بحثت و لخصت و حللت البحوث الهامة في المجال التعليمي البحوث التي تمت في القرن العشرين حول هذا الموضوع و :

1- درست نقاط القوة و الضعف فيها.

2- حددت مشاركة و مساهمة كل دراسة حول موضوع القراءة السريعة.

و لكي تحدد الدراسة جدوى التدرب على القراءة السريعة قامت بأخذ عينة مكونة من 32 طالب و تعرفت على مستوى القراءة و الاستيعاب لديهم قبل التدرب على القراءة السريعة و قاسته كذلك بعد التدرب على القراءة السريعة.

خلصت الدراسة في النهاية إلى :

أن التدرب على القراءة السريعة زاد بشكل كبير جدا من نسبة القراءة و طور مستوى الاستيعاب.

التوصيات

Recommendations were made for introducing speed reading training courses in elementary and middle schools for students to achieve higher reading rates and better comprehension skills

توصي الدراسة بتقديم منهج القراءة السريعة ليكون من ضمن مقررات المرحلة الابتدائية و المتوسطة (إلى متى يا رجال التعليم عندنا!!) لكي يتحصل الطلاب على نتائج أفضل في القراءة و الاستيعاب.

قدمت الدراسة أدلة كافية على تأكيد النقطة التي خلاصتها أنه يمكن للإنسان مضاعفة سرعة قراءته مرتين و ثلاث مرات.
